Many of you more Achievement-motivated folk dont have Dead Rising in your lists… I admit, the achievements are pretty time consuming, but take heart! Theres over 300 pts worth of stuff you can do and it takes just over an hour, many within the first 15-20 mins… and leaving your 360 on overnight. You’ll need a rubber band or string for some of these. These are close to order of completion.
By the way - zombie killing is fun. While you’re working through these, hopefully you’ll be inclined to play through the game!
Portraiture - 20 pts
When the game first starts, take a picture of Carlito when you first meet him on the roof. Head downstairs. When you meet the other survivors, take pictures of each of them. That should get your 10 in all. DONT GO TOO FAR BACK (past the last 2 survivors), or else a cutscene will kick off and you wont be able to get the pictures. If you miss a couple, wait until you meet Jessie, Otis, and Brad for the first time and take their pictures - they count towards the survivor count. No, you can’t take a picture of Jessie’s hoobs.
Freefall - 20 pts
As the survivors are first milling about, go up the stairs, get to the second floor, and jump down. Done.
Group Photo - 20 pts
In the Entrance Plaza, walk up to the doors where all the zombies are trying to push in. Take a photo with as many heads as you can. That should get you to 50. You might need one or two tries. If you cant get it (you might need the “right angle”), kick off the cutscene where the lady cries for her dog, then after the scene completes, make your way up stairs. Dont go all the way (half to 3/4 way). Take a shot over the bannister. That should be plenty.
Photojournalist, The Artiste - 40 pts total
When you first go onto the roof, there will be 2 survivors. Reunite them by talking to the lady, have her follow you, then go meet the man. They’ll hug - you need to snap this shot for 10,000 PP and completing both achievements. Might want to save at the couch before doing this in case you miss the shot. Otherwise you have to wait til you meet Kent.
For fun, you might want to take the two of them out after they’re done loving on each other.
Costume Party - 20 pts
When you first get to Paradise Plaza there is a toy store on the left. Walk in, and there should be 6 or 7 novelty masks on the floor (they look like legos). Pick one up and pop it on the head of a zombie. Do this 10 times for this achievement. The zombies are loosely grouped and you can kill the zombie, pick up the mask, and put it on another one to get to 10. If you go upstairs, you’ll find some horse head masks, too.
** NOTE - BEFORE HEADING OUT, go upstairs to the sporting goods store and pick up 3 or 4 bowling balls.
Stunt Driver - 20 pts
During the very first mission, when you leave Paradise Plaza and you enter the middle outdoors area, head towards the Parking Garage (check your map for exact location). Go down the alley until you see a motorcycle and a red convertible. Get in the convertible and drive back out the way you came. There are some hills around the pond in the middle of the area that you can use to jump and get your required 33 feet.
Stunt Rider - 20 pts
Same as Driver, except you want to do the jump that goes into the garage itself. Just get the motorcycle where you got the red convertible. You need full speed and a straight shot. It may help if you use the convertible first to clear out the zombies, since they will slow you down before the jump. You can try the hills around the pond, but I didnt have much luck getting enough speed.
Self Defense - 20 pts
Your first chance to do this is against Cletus. If you are low level this will be difficult. You can position yourself in the door way so that his shotgun blasts dont hurt you. Bring wine just in case. Its about 30-45 minutes into the game.
** Improve your chances against Cletus **
Before you leave Paradise Plaza, whip up some Untouchable drinks. Go upstairs to the restaurant (its across from where you got the bowling balls). Pick up some OJ and a couple of pies. Mix them in a blender. This drink makes you invincible for a limited time.
Strike! - 20 pts
Find an area choked with zombies and throw one of your bowling balls. This works best in a small room or area because the ball will ricochet, improving your chances. If you’re downstairs in the Parking Garage going after the Zombie kill count achievements (see below), this is a piece of cake.
3 Day Survivor, Outdoorsman, Indoorsman, Marathon Runner - 80 pts total
When you get to the first save point, save your game, then use a rubber band to set your character running into any corner. Outdoorsman takes 2 real time hours to obtain (1 game day). You can do it standing still too, but the band will help you get to the Marathon Runner achievement.
Indoorsman - after you get Outdoorsman, go to the Rooftop through the vent that Otis opens for you. Repeat like you did for Outdoorsman.
Marathon Runner - takes a few playthroughs. In 6 real time hours you should have 3 day survivor; Do a couple more playthroughs like above to get the Marathon Runner. Easy when you can leave it on overnight.
Zombie Hunter, Zombie Killer - 40 pts total
Get some OJ from the second floor in Paradise Plaza (just in case). head to the parking garage. Get the convertible and head into the garage. Start doing laps in the garage and mow zombies over. The first 1,000 should come in a lap. WATCH OUT FOR zombies with propane tanks. 10,000 will come in about 30 minutes of lap running. If your car starts to smoke its about to conk out, so make sure you know where the exits are.
Refer to this map - you can use this for Zombie Genocider but it will take you much longer than an hour. Beat the game after this, though, and you get the most coveted weapon in the game, the Mega Man Blaster. The convertible will last a little while, the truck will last for quite a while, the white sedan is the weakest of the three.

It took me 40 minutes to amass 5700 kills in the garage. Just make sure you are near a save point, especially if youre charging in and dont have the maintenance tunnel key. If you die, you lose ALL your kills.
Raining Zombies - 20 pts
Go to Al Fresca (its on the other side of the area where Carlito and Brad fight at the beginning of the game, just follow the map) - grab a parasol from the middle plaza area, and go to town. They have to be knocked down in one continuous movement (knock down 30).
Total points - 340
Nice!
Man, I haven’t played this game in a long time, I forgot how much fun it is. For those of you who haven’t played, I recommend picking it up. You can probably find it for $20 if you look around and it’s well worth it, in my opinion (especially if you like Zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead).
The save system sucks sweaty nutsack, but other than that, the game is mindless fun.
tru dat. Thats what makes getting Genocider so hard. But you can nail these down and not have to worry about saving…
